Four NLFT outlaws surrender before Tripura police

Agartala: In its efforts to make Tripura insurgency free, the state police got surrendered four NLFT (PD group) extremists surrendered before them while making it difficult for the remaining NLFT outlaws to exist in the state. These outlaws surrendered arms and ammunitions to the police.

The NLFT outlaws surrendered before the police included Doberam Reang aka Dopha, Sailendra Reang aka Silai, Samprai Debbarma aka Kuichang and Subhalal Tripura aka Suiya. Subhalal Tripura is from Bangladesh. They surrendered to the police on October 1, 2021.

These outlaws deposited one US-made revolver, one factory-made gun, one Chinese grenade, four live bullets, NLFT collection receipt and 800 Bangladesh Taka. They told the police on being quizzed that they joined NLFT (PD) in 2019 in Bangladesh but realized that their fight to get freedom for Tripura is a farce and there is no future of violence. They are also facing a huge financial and organizational crisis. The constant pressure from the Tripura police is forcing outlaws in the state to surrender before them.

CPIM veteran Bijan Dhar passes away

Agartala: Tripura Left Front convenor Bijan Dhar breathed his last morning at a private hospital in Kolkata on Monday.

Dhar, was airlifted to Kolkata after his health deteriorated while undergoing treatment at GB hospital in Agartala.

Earlier, CPIM state secretary Gautam Das succumbed to COVID-19 after fighting for almost a month.

Dhar was the former CPIM state secretary and was appointed as Left Front convenor after the 2018 assembly election defeat.

Dhar was on ventilation for almost two weeks and his health condition was stable. However, in the last 48 hours his health condition deteriorated and he breathed his last in the wee hours on Monday.

The CPIM leaders are preparing to bring his mortal remains to Agartala by an evening fight later today.
